Gossip Girl Continues to Straddle the Line Between Savvy and Sexy

In this current television landscape of pushing boundaries to the fringes of acceptability, it's still a guessing game on just how far shows can push the proverbial envelope. From more risqué antics in the boudoir, or any room in the house for that matter, to shocking graphic imagery, our favourite shows and storylines haven't been shying away from what used to be eyebrow raising, shock-inducing content. As we know, sex sells and always has on television. Nowadays, however, you could say that sex and sexy sell but you could also say that we don't demand the same price as our parents once did from primetime television. Both fans and network executives could argue that it is a natural progression throughout the evolution of television. Based on the popularity of The CW hit Gossip Girl, which has certainly pushed it's fair share of boundaries, it's interesting to look at how liberal TV fans are becoming as compared to just a few short years ago.The previews of the latest episode of Gossip Girl, "The Hurt Locket", airing Monday, March 8, center around the physical relationships of lead characters Serena (Blake Lively), Nate (Chace Crawford), Blair (Leighton Meester), and Chuck (Ed Westwick). Although Gossip Girl has never tiptoed away from the obvious physical attraction the characters share with each other, the promos for Serena and Nate’s early morning romp appear to give a whole new meaning to the term "Good Morning". Sexual content aside, fans know all too well they're not the only couple to get steamy.
